Object to Print - Group Exhibition at Showcase Gallery - 2013

I choose to use coffee as a medium for this project and use gahwa cups and coffee mugs as the main object to print from. The prints depict fusion between the east and west. As coffee is served in almost every culture and coffee breaks are known as routine social gathering for a snack and or a short downtime. In the Arabic culture serving coffee serves as a ceremonial act of kindness and hospitality. The Arabic gahwa cup is small with no handle and is called Fenjan.

This to me was a very interesting idea as I was able to experiment with the marks the cups and mugs left. The large coffee marks were printed off a standard every day coffee mug; while the smaller coffee marks were printed off an Arabic gahwa cup.
